RESEARCH THAT DRIVES EDUCATION

The DC Power Laboratory is a proud and integral part of the Department of Electrical Engineering at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS). We believe that true innovation cannot happen in a silo.

Our core mission is to create a powerful feedback loop: The applied research we conduct directly results in state-of-the-art educational materials. By integrating our cutting-edge findings into the curriculum, we ensure that our students are not just learning history—they are mastering the new techniques, hardware, and smart energy systems required to lead the global energy transition. This direct translation from lab to classroom maximizes the return on investment for our stakeholders and policymakers, producing highly skilled, industry-ready engineers.

OUR CORE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

We actively support and provide research opportunities for the following bachelor programs.

HBO Elektrotechniek

DUTCH PROGRAM

This highly practical, 4-year Dutch bachelor program focuses on tackling real-world technological challenges. Students work closely with local industry partners to develop sustainable energy solutions, smart hardware, and innovative electrical infrastructures. Within the DC Power Lab, these students build the physical demonstrators that prove our concepts.

Electrical & Electronic Engineering

INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH PROGRAM

A rigorous 3-year fast-track bachelor program (for VWO or international equivalents) taught entirely in English. This program prepares students for the global high-tech industry, focusing on embedded systems, microchips, and smart grids. The Lab provides these students with complex integration challenges and advanced simulation environments.

THE INNOVATION PIPELINE

By investing in the DC Power Laboratory, stakeholders ensure that the latest technological advancements bypass the traditional, slow textbook publication cycle. Our research directly outputs:

Curriculum Updates

New techniques and discoveries are instantly taught in classrooms, ensuring the curriculum is always at the absolute cutting edge of the industry.
